- Incorporate innovation in eliciting data for and delivering socio-ecological models to users (e.g. via smartphones and tablets; virtual and augmented relativity, etc.).
- Describe methods for collaborative model development among researchers from diverse disciplines and the inclusion of decision-makers and other stakeholders in model development.
climate-energy-water-food nexus
This session will investigate how systems thinking and system dynamics are being used to understand and manage the climate-energy-water-food nexus. The session encourages the submission of papers that:
- Highlight the development and use of system dynamics models to understand and manage climate, water, energy and food systems together rather than independently.
- Highlight the development and use of system dynamics models to assess the sustainability of coupled climate, water, energy and food systems.
- Highlight the development and use of system dynamics models for evaluating the impact of policy on the climate-energy-water-food nexus.
healthcare service delivery and public health
This session will investigate how systems thinking and system dynamics are being used to strengthen healthcare service delivery and the management of public health. The session encourages the submission of papers that:
- Highlight the development and use of system dynamics models for managing healthcare services, such as hospitals and community healthcare services.
- Highlight the development and use of system dynamics models for managing public health.
mental health
This session will investigate how systems thinking and system dynamics are being used to understand and manage mental health systems. The session encourages the submission of papers that:
- Highlight the development and use of system dynamics models for understanding and managing mental health systems in the work place or public health systems.
- Describe methods for collaborative model development among researchers from diverse disciplines and the inclusion of decision-makers and other stakeholders in model development.
This session will investigate how systems thinking and system dynamics are being used to understand and manage business problems. The session encourages the submission of papers that:
- Highlight the development and use of system dynamics models for managing business problems.
- Highlight the development and use of system dynamics models for conducting behavioural experiments to study managerial decision making.
sustainability
This session will investigate how systems thinking and system dynamics are being used to understand and manage the sustainability of agricultural and food production systems. The session encourages the submission of papers that:
- Highlight the development and use of system dynamics models to assess the resilience of agricultural systems to climate change.
- Highlight the development and use of system dynamics models for optimising food production efficiency and minimising waste.
- Highlight the development and use of system dynamics models for evaluating the sustainability consequences of agricultural policy.
value and supply chains
This session will investigate how systems thinking and system dynamics are being used to understand and manage agricultural value chains in developing countries within the Asia Pacific region. The session encourages the submission of papers that:
- Highlight the development and use of system dynamics models in new product development, managing volatility and risk, improving efficiency and sustainable intensification within agricultural value chains.
- Highlight the development and use of system dynamics models to assess whole of value chain performance.
- Highlight the development and use of system dynamics models to evaluate nutrition sensitive agricultural interventions and pro-poor value chain interventions.
This session will investigate innovations in systems thinking and system dynamics education. The session encourages the submission of papers that:
- Describe best practices and tools for system dynamics teaching.
- Highlight the development and use of game based learning and gamification in system dynamics education.
This session will investigate how systems thinking and system dynamics are being used with communities to address complex social problems. The session encourages the submission of papers that:
- Discuss applications of community-based system dynamics.
- Describe best practices in community-based system dynamics.
- Describe approaches to evaluating the success of applications of system dynamics in community settings.
This session will investigate future innovations in systems thinking and system dynamics. The session encourages the submission of papers that:
- Explore the integration of system dynamics and artificial intelligence.
- Explore the integration of system dynamics and agent based modelling.
- Explore the integration of system dynamics and virtual and augmented reality.
- Explore the application of big data in system dynamics.
This session will investigate developments in system dynamics and systems thinking approaches. The session encourages the submission of papers that:
- Discuss innovations in modelling techniques and practice
- Describe case studies where systems thinking and system dynamics have been implemented and adopted to create practical outcomes and impact
- Explore processes for the use of systems thinking and system dynamics as a common language across disciplines
